SecuTec Genu Flex provides reliable stabilization

The same stabilization effects as a hard-frame brace

From Bauerfeind Life on 19.06.2025

The semi-flexible SecuTec Genu Flex stabilizes the knee joint like a classic hard-frame brace. This has been substantiated by a model-based test procedure conducted by the Biomechatronics Laboratory of FH Münster – University of Applied Sciences headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. David Hochmann (pictured on the left) and Maxim Kirillov.

Knee braces in a test rig

The innovative SecuTec Genu Flex was examined in a test rig that recreates the anatomy of a human leg. It was then compared to the dorsal version of the tried-and-tested SecuTec Genu. In order to draw conclusions relating to the protective function of the knee brace, its resistance to anterior-posterior translation and internal/external rotation was measured. The study resulted in equal mechanical stabilization, both on a sagittal and horizontal plane. “The fact that the Flex-Links of the SecuTec Genu Flex adapt to the thigh and lower leg when the knee moves is not a detriment to the efficiency of the orthopedic 4-point principle,” Prof. Hochmann explains.

Valid treatment alternative

When used for treating knee injuries and complex instabilities, the SecuTec Genu Flex provides the same support as a hard-frame brace, protecting the joint from inappropriate mechanical stress. Thanks to its adaptive fit, the brace remains comfortably in position. It is a modern treatment alternative for patients who would not wear rigid solutions regularly or who are looking for greater freedom of movement during everyday activities.
