The new GenuTrain P3 to ensure a stable patella position

If the forces in the knee that stabilize the patella are off balance, the GenuTrain P3 can help.  It ensures that the patella moves in its physiologically correct path by counteracting painful drifting and outward rotation. The new generation of this knee support optimizes the complex mechanisms of tension and counter tension using a new two-component pad with a uniquely positioned corrective strap. The knitted fabric and the sizing system have also been revised to ensure an improved fit for standard products. Patients with patella problems can now be treated with the new GenuTrain P3.

Improved transfer of power, thanks to the corrective strap

Firmly integrated in the pad, the new corrective strap runs laterally around the patella. Specific deflection around the lower patella apex ensures that the force of the corrective strap is directed exactly where it is needed. This direct positioning improves the transfer of power and purposefully counteracts lateral drifting as well as outward rotation of the patella (patellar tilt). The relieving pulling sensation on the strap extension is immediately noticeable and can be precisely adjusted by patients themselves as required.

New Patella Pad with Hoffa Spots and friction zone

The GenuTrain P3’s new Patella Pad is a two-component pad featuring two friction points in which two materials with different degrees of firmness are integrated. The Hoffa Spots will intensively stimulate the Hoffa region during movement in order to alleviate pain in the retropatellar area. The friction zone at the top of the Patella Pad activates the joint-stabilizing vastus medialis muscle and boosts medial forces exerted on the patella. An additional pad on the outer thigh reduces tension in the fasciae of the iliotibial tract to minimize lateral pull on the patella. Together with the corrective strap, the functional elements support a centering guidance of the patella along its femoral path during movement.

Improved fit and practical donning aids

The new GenuTrain P3 features very textured high-low knitted fabric known from the Train series, and silicone dots along the top support edge as standard to ensure the product remains securely in position. Donning and doffing aids on the lateral stays make donning and doffing of the product easier for patients. The sizing system has been revised and extended: standard sizes 1 to 7 cover a treatment spectrum of thigh dimensions from 35 to 68 cm with lower leg dimensions of 27 to 47 cm.

Service information

The GenuTrain P3 is a knee support for active stabilization when treating patella problems. P3 stands for Permanent Patella Protection. With its functional elements, such as the adjustable corrective strap, it is used for the centering guidance of the patella. It can be prescribed for the following indications, for example:

• Patellar lateralization
• Patellar subluxation/patellar dislocation
• Patellofemoral pain syndrome/runner’s knee
• Retropatellar osteoarthritis
• Post-operative care (e.g. following patellar stabilization)
• Patellar tip syndrome/jumper’s knee

In the German Statutory Health Insurance Medical Aids Directory (GKV), the GenuTrain P3 is listed as number 23.04.05.0011 under products for the correction and/or relief of the patellofemoral joint.
