SecuTec Genu supporting the Cross Bracing Protocol

For the conservative treatment of acute ACL ruptures, a restriction set expands the possible use of the SecuTec Genu. The set with blocks for restricting extension to 60, 75, and 90 degrees supports the implementation of the innovative Cross Bracing Protocol (CBP). The additional blocks facilitate adjustment of the hard-frame orthosis required for the treatment process.

Option for selected patients

The CBP is being scientifically researched and is a promising option for conservative treatment. It is based on the assumption that a torn anterior cruciate ligament can heal by itself. To achieve this, the process combines specialized physiotherapy with immobilization and controlled movement for carefully selected patients. During the first four weeks, the newly injured knee is restricted by the orthosis at a flexion angle of 90 degrees and an extension angle of 90 degrees. From the fifth week, extension is gradually allowed until the full range of motion is reached after 12 weeks. Shorter, accelerated versions of the CBP have now been developed and successfully tested in a clinical setting.

Tool-free adjustment

The blocks can be inserted into the designated cut-outs in the orthosis hinges by hand and removed again just as easily. To comply with CBP specifications, those in charge of treatment can thus gradually adjust the range of motion without the need for tools. The restriction set complements the available limitation blocks for flexion as well as extension, and is available as an accessory.
